Wit was the 1999 Pulitzer Prize winning play for drama. They
play is about a university professor of English who is dying of
ovarian cancer. As she copes with her life-threatening cancer,
she assesses her own life through the intricacies of the English
language, especially the use of wit and the metaphysical poetry
of John Donne. She decides to under take strong doses of
chemotherapy in the hopes of beating the cancer. Through her
struggle for survival, she learns more about the true meaning of
Wit.
Proceeds from every performance will go directly to benefit the
Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Eudaimonia believes that the message in Wit is parallel to
that of the foundation’s message to “Live Strong.” In addition
to funds generated, the performances will educated the
communities of Chicago and create awareness of the cancer
epidemic.
